It's my bday!

Shhh... My Humans are still asleep, so I have to be quiet while I write out this quick post. Today is my birthday, and my Humans couldn't wait to give me my new presents so they gave them to me late last night. I got new snacks and my own Xbox controller!

My birthday gifts!

I've never had a birthday before, but it's so awesome! I mean, I get presents! It's like Christmas all over again, except this time I'm special!

Momma fed me my new snacks, and I loved them all.

Waiting for the command to EAT!

Yes, I'm very happy now!

Pops was so happy about the Xbox controller, because now it means we have the same toy. But first, he had to teach me to tell which one is mine and which is his. But I'm smart! I know which one's mine!

Xbox controller plushy!

I'm really happy with my new Xbox controller, but who is Pops kidding? The Beagle from down the road says it's cruel to get a puppy an Xbox controller for his birthday, when there isn't a working Xbox in the house! Hurry up and fix or replace your Xbox, Pops!

My brother Knuckles and Aunt Jol is coming over later, and we're going to go to the park! Momma says she's got a surprise for me there! I'm so excited!

My ears are better now!

After all this time, and all the sticking of gross things into my ears, my ear infection is finally gone! I'm better now!

Too bad Uncle Qian now has an ear infection too, and it's so bad he can't talk and chew properly. But it's not my fault! I didn't pass it to him! The Beagle from down the road says that he must've caught it from a dirty PS3 controller or something.

Random Video Moment

Here's a video of Momma and me playing and trying a new trick!

In completely unrelated news, a few nights ago, Momma and Pops came home acting all weird. They were like, touching each other all over and stuff, and quickly switched the lights off and went to bed. I don't know what they were doing in bed, but it made me feel a bit sick.

So sick in fact, that I vomited all over my bed. That quickly stopped them from whatever it was they were doing. And then when Pops was out cleaning my vomit, I did poopy. The really wet type. Momma had to clean that up.

I felt a bit better after that, and after Momma and Pops cleaned everything up, they went to bed, and this time they fell asleep immediately.

Chewbacca's my new hero!

Now that I'm almost one year old, my Humans think that I'm old enough to watch some of their favorite movies, starting with the Star Wars movies. For the past few nights, I've been watching the "original trilogy" (I'm not sure that that means, but that's the phrase Pops uses all the time) with them, while Momma does her knitting.

It's pretty good stuff, and I think Chewie is like the most awesomest hero ever! It's so cool to see a dog with a crossbow shooting bad guys down. And he also gets to fly the Mellinum Fowcan, or something like that. You know, that thing that looks like a pancake.

My Humans are so happy about me watching their favorite movie, that I got allowed onto the bed!

Even Darth Vader likes to knit

Anyway, Momma's been doing a lot of knitting lately too. See, she's completed a scarf for Uncle Aaron, and now she's working on a skinny scarf for Aunt Mainey. I figured that if I don't play with the yarn and get my teeth and claws entangled with Momma's stuff, I get to stay on the bed. So I behaved myself and didn't.

I might be almost a year old, but I can still learn new stuff!

White fur = Stress?

Momma found a white hair on her head recently, and she started complaining about it and says that she has the white hair because Pops stresses her out. If white hair is a sign of stress, then does that mean I'm super-stressed?

I have lots of white fur,
but I'm too young to be stressed!

The Beagle from down the road says that I'm probably really stressed out because I live in constant fear of the Dobermans and their evil ruler, the Doberman Pharaoh. I guess I should learn to chillax a bit more, like Lorenza and Brutus. These two don't have a single strand of white fur on their body!

Happy birthday, Momma!

Yesterday was Momma's birthday! First it's Pops' birthday, then Aunt Jol's, then Momma's, and soon it will be my birthday!

Happy birthday, Momma!

I love my Momma. She's the best to me, even if she sticks things into my ears sometimes, and humiliates me in the shower. I hope she knows I love her lots and lots, even if I'm hiding from her in my crate.

When Toys Die

Last week, two toys died! And I know you guys think it's because I chewed off a toy's limb or something, but it wasn't me, and the toys that died aren't mine either! The two toys that died are actually my Momma's Fleas and my Pops' Xbox 360! Actually, Momma says that the Fleas aren't dead... it's just that they went back to "Tama-Land" or something like that. Erm... yeah...

The dead Xbox and the dead Fleas

Anyway, my Pops' Xbox just sorta died on him without any reason, but Momma's fleas died when she left them at home alone one day. It was just one day, and they died. That's so lousy! I get left home alone every day and I'm still healthy and strong!

Pops' Xbox was about three years old, and Momma's fleas were about three months old.

I want to feel sad for Momma and Pops, but I don't. Actually, this means that they'll be showing me even more attention now, and a dog can never have too much attention! Sucks to be an Xbox or a Flea, but it's great to be a dog! Two ears and a nose! Woof!

PS It's Aunt Jol's birthday today!

Random Video Moment

Last Christmas, we gave our pal Yanni a Christmas present in the form of two big milk bones. Here's a video of him happily chewing his bone. Try to fast-forward to the 1:17 mark, and see him wag his big ol' tail!

Fridge Cleaning Time

Okay, can you guys keep a secret? Of course you can! You're dogs - the most loyal and trustworthy animals in the world!

Grandma's ridiculously packed fridge

Anyway, my grandma likes to hoard food. Like, a lot of food. She'll buy a lot of food, stick it in the fridge and around the kitchen, and basically not eat it. Not only is it really gross to keep food that's off, but it means there's never any space in the fridge for when Momma buys ice-cream and Pops wants to keep his beer cold and stuff. When Pops says to throw something out, grandma will say something like "no, you can keep this stuff past the expiry date as long as it's in the fridge".

So whenever my grandparents go off on a holiday, Momma and Pops will raid the fridge and secretly throw out all the expired food. It's a real challenge, because we can't throw out too much food, otherwise grandma might get suspicious when she gets back. So Momma will do some special stacking and rearranging to make the kitchen look like it's still full of stuff.

You can find all kinds of crazy stuff when you go through my grandma's kitchen. Sometimes, you can find really old stuff. Last year, Momma found something that dates back to 2003 or something - that's like 40 dog years old! The Beagle from down the road said we could probably sell that on eBay Antiques.

Pops says home-made means no preservatives,
which means that's SOOOOO GROSS!

Other times, you can find things that you won't even recognize. Really gross things, like strange prunes or preserved cat poop or something.

What is this? I'm a dog, and
even I wouldn't try to eat that!

One good thing about having me around is that sometimes the expiration date would have faded from the boxes and stuff, so my Humans will ask me to use my super dog-nose to sniff the food and let them know if it's gone bad or not. It's not a really fun job, because the food that's gone bad pretty much smells that way, but it's an important job so a dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do.

My nose is the ultimate smell tester

Well, my grandparents get back tonight. Let's hope that grandma doesn't notice anything wrong!

Random Photo Moment

Ever since that last visit to the vet because of my ear infection, I've been finding icky things hidden in my food. I find them so annoying, cos it makes eating so difficult when you have to eat your way around those icky things.

Rainy Mornings and piano poops

I think there's nothing quite like the smell of a rainy morning. Like, when you wake up, and it's pouring rain outside, but the rain is over by the time your Humans let you outside. The grass smells nicer, the air is fresher, it's like the whole world just got a bath, but you were lucky enough to be hiding in your crib while it happened.

Our garden, after the rain

In Singapore, when it rains in the afternoon, it's really horrible cos it gets all nasty and sticky, and the air is hot and humid. But in the mornings and evenings, the sun isn't so bad, so you feel cooler, and there's usually a nice cool breeze to catch on your face. It's awesome!

But maybe it might get a bit too chilly. I noticed that sometimes Aunt Mainey wears her socks while she's playing the piano, so that must mean her feet get cold. Aunt Mainey plays really nice music on the piano, so the other day I decided to show her how much I like her music by leaving her a hot fudgey sausage near the pedals to warm her feet.

I don't think Aunt Mainey liked it though, because she went crazy when she stepped on it. She even changed her socks! She didn't yell at me or anything, but I still get the feeling she wasn't happy with me.

Warm fudge sausage #2

I don't get it... so this morning I tried again by leaving her another sausage. Hopefully she'll be happier with this one.

Update: She didn't step into the second sausage. But she wasn't too impressed either!

Another Tails update

Poor Tails!

He's still a bit antsy after the attack, and apparently he's hiding under stuff a lot now. My Humans met up with Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Gen-Gen over the weekend, and by using the powers of some strange dog with blue teeth, my Pops has pics of Tails.

Oh no! Sad eyes!

Here's a pic of the bite, and as you can see, Tails has a bit of a bald spot now.

Here's a closeup of the bite

So it's not as bad as I thought it was. It's still pretty bad, but I was freaking out when I thought Tails was missing a big chunk of flesh or something.

Anyway, he's gone to see the vet and now he's recovering quite well. I'm sure Knuckles and I will make him feel comfortable enough to play with other dogs and humans again.

Tails now walks with an armored vest!
Just kidding... it's his bandage

I can't see colors, but Pops told me that it's a blue bandage. I was like "but blue is my color!" That vet probably doesn't know anything about us. I'm blue, Knuckles is red, and Tails is orange! Sigh...

PS Mr Puggle has a fun little contest right now where you have to count how many times he licks his lips in a video. If you're good at counting (I can't count past 4) then you should try it out! Click this link!

Random Video Moment

I went over to my iGrandmother's place yesterday and played with Aunt Jolene and Knuckles! At least, I thought it was to play... then I found out that it was a set up to trick me into getting a bath. I've never gotten a bath there before, so I was shocked when I got taken into a new place and then soaked and humiliated again.

Anyway, here are some videos of Knuckles and I fooling around.

My Humans met up with Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Gen-Gen too! They'll help my put up some pics of cousin Tails tomorrow.

Cousin Tails got mauled!

The other night, cousin Tails was out for a walk, when a big dog randomly jumped on him and bit a big chunk of flesh out from his little body!!! That's so scary! Why would anyone do that???

Aunt Cheryl said that Tails wasn't being a nuisance or anything. He was sniffing around with the other dog, and everything seemed fine and Tails was already walking away peacefully when all of a sudden the dog pounced on him and mauled him!

Tails is recovering after a trip to the vet. Luckily he doesn't have any broken bones or anything, but he's pretty scared of stuff now. I hope he gets better soon.

I was talking to the Beagle from down the road about this, and there can only be a few explanations for this crazy violence.

1. The big dog walked through a spiderweb and a spider went into his ear and mind-controlled him.
2. The big dog was bullied by a Maltese when he was a puppy.
3. The big dog is a sleeper agent working for the evil Dobermans.

Judging from the size of big dog puppies like Roy, I think it was very unlikely that the big dog was ever bullied by a Maltese. They were walking on the side of the road, so it's not very likely that there were any spiderwebs there either.

So it must be the Dobermans. I thought the destruction of the Doberman base ended their evil reign, but I guess they must have regrouped and are plotting against us again. I guess I'll have no choice but to put on the Dog Knight outfit again, and find out more about this Doberman Pharaoh that they brought back to life. Evil is apaw!

In the meantime, all of you smaller dogs like Twink and Tank should be extra careful! Any dog could be a Doberman agent! If you have Shih-Tzu friends, then ask them to wear goggles. I overheard the vet tell my Pops once that Shih-Tzus always end up at the vet's with a missing eye!

Random Video Moment

I got allowed onto my Humans' bed the other night, and Momma was poking two sticks into this ball of string. I started playing with the ball and it was awesome fun! The Beagle from down the road told me that this string is called "yarn" and that only cats play with yarn, but I dunno. I thought it was fun. Why should cats have all the fun?

Random Photo Moment

I've been going on nice long walks lately, and it's been pretty cool. I got to leave pee-mail all over the neighborhood! There was also a walk over to the Police Post because Pops' friend had to report a stolen wallet. I really wanted to leave a Golden Offering there and mark a symbol of authority, but Pops wouldn't let me. I had to settle for a nearby bush instead.

Don't Dogs Deserve Birthdays?

Pops' birthday cake. Will I get one too?

I overheard Uncle Qian talking to my Pops about my birthday the other day, and what he had to say was a bit iffy. It went something like this:

Pops: Sonic's birthday is just a few weeks away.
Uncle Qian: What are you guys gonna do?
Pops: Jo wants to throw a party. You know, get a doggy cake, invite some friends.
Uncle Qian: Good grief! You know, his name is SON-ic but he's not actually your son.
Pops: Yeah, but it'll be fun. Besides, it's also Knuckle's birthday so there's another reason to celebrate.
Uncle Qian: Two fur-kids don't make a real kid.

I'm sure Uncle Qian didn't mean for me to overhear that, but I guess humans often forget that dogs have super-hearing. Maybe Knuckles and I aren't human puppies, but we're just as lovable and we deserve a birthday! We make humans much happier than human puppies, because we don't wail and cry all day long, and honestly... our poop smells a whole lot better.

First Bath of the year

Just because it's a new year, doesn't mean I don't have to go through my Weekly Torture Ritual. On the first day of the year, I saw Momma pulling out my towel from the closet. I knew what that meant, so I immediately hid behind their bed. Unfortunately, Pops spotted me and carried me into the bathroom.

It's been a whole year of this, so you'd think that I'd be used to it by now... but no, I'm not. I mean, I'm a dog! I have two ears and a nose! I don't think we are ever supposed to get used to being humiliated and soaked like this.

But oh well... at least I smell really nice now. Pops is addicted to my smell after a bath. He keeps picking me up and sticking his nose into my fur. And then I even got to spend yesterday morning in bed with my humans, just snuggling and snoozing. That was really nice!

Happy birthday, Pops!

I know the big news is New Years and all, but for us the last day of the year is also my Pops' birthday! He turned 30... in dog years that would mean he'd date back to when dogs rode around on horses and wore metal suits of armor!

So we've been celebrating lots of things, which is why I've been too tired to blog for the past couple of days. Anyway, I've rested up lots so here's a quick recap.

A bunch of friends and relatives came over on the 30th, and grandma cooked a huge dinner (which I didn't get to eat... again). Pops got quite a few cool presents, but the coolest was a few pairs of lightsaber chopsticks from Aunt Mainey.

The lightsaber chopsticks

Momma and Pops messing around

Pops and Momma messed around with the lighsabers a bit too, because they just couldn't resist. Pops also got a vintage R2D2 playset, and a little version of the Boba Fett blaster. Yep... everyone knows that my Pops is "cool".

Then they went and played Guitar Hero: Van Houten and a movie trivia game called Scene It. Pops won big at the movie game, but that's probably because the others were letting the birthday boy win.

Aunt Jeanette, Momma, and me!

Anyway, the birthday excitement got me thinking about my own birthday, which is just a few weeks away!!! I'm so looking forward to it!!!
