Finding a forever home for the kittens

As you guys know, there's a family of cats living in our yard right now. My Humans have gotten quite attached to them, and it makes me pretty jealous sometimes when they feed the cats and play with them. Don't they know that the cats hiss and snarl at me all the time??? I know they don't have a home and all, but still... Momma is always telling me that we have to look out for less fortunate fur-friends who aren't as lucky as I am. Even if they're cats.

The tense border relations between me and the cats
This Christmas, Momma told Pops the only thing she wanted was to find the kittens a Forever Home of their own. So the other day, Pops went out into the garden to take photos of them so that he can post them up in Facebook, share the pics with the Cat Welfare society, and basically try to find humans to adopt them.

Now we finally have individual photos of the kitties, so we can share them with you too!

This is Medium. She was born in the previous batch,
and is the big sister of the bunch
Batcat is the bravest kittie, and always
the first to approach my Humans
Socks is the most timid, and hides from us all the time
I think you can guess why this one is named Stocking
We've had some luck with potential adopters, so hopefully Momma will get her wish this Christmas, and I'll get my garden back! I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I'm sometimes afraid to go out into the garden because I see them snooping around. Especially during the rainy season, because they're always using our garden as shelter.

This is one of their favorite spots to huddle up
If any of you guys live in Singapore and would like to adopt one (or know someone that might), please contact us! If you're interested, Pops has more photos on Facebook here.

I probably won't be online for the next few days, so Merry Christmas, fellow dog-bloggers! I hope you all get really nice presents!

Christmas is almost here!

Well, the tree's up, the presents are appearing under the tree, and my Humans have been busy wrapping presents for the past few days. Yep, Christmas is coming!

I didn't have anything to leave under the tree, so I did the next best thing and left a Golden Offering.

Anyway, for Momma's Christmas gift this year, Pops did something different and donated some money to the SPCA instead. He said that Momma would much rather have the money spent on looking after some dogs without forever homes, rather than getting something for herself.

So I decided to do something similar too. My Humans and I went through all of my old toys and towels, and decided to donate them all to dogs without forever homes. It's the first time I'm giving away something other than Golden Offerings and Poop Nuggets, so it feels quite different for me. I like the feeling though. I didn't like it at first, because I wanted to play with all my old toys again (even though I haven't touched them for a long time), but now I feel good about being so generous.

We are also trying to find forever homes for the kittens that live in our garden. Pops is going to try to take nicer photos of them today.

Happy holidays, doggy pals!

The family of cats that live in our yard

Remember how an Evil Cat gave birth to a bunch of cats in our yard last time? It's been happening again, and now there is a family of five cats living in my garden! And you know what the strange thing is? Momma's encouraging them!

HIEW!

A whole bunch of cats have

moved into my garden!

I mean, why would she want me to share my garden, the garden that I so dearly love to pee on, with cats? And these cats are selfish and mean too... the mother cat hisses at me all the time. I'm actually kinda scared of her too, cos I've seen those sharp claws of hers and she doesn't seem to be afraid of my bark. I don't think my bite matches up with her claws.

Momma kept insisting that the kittens are not as lucky as I am to have a forever home, so she wanted to give them shelter, and even fed them. They'd actually go to the pet store and get special food for the kittens! Has the world gone crazy???

Right now, we've got five cats in our garden:
  1. Momma (cat)
  2. Medium (cat, from the previous litter).
  3. Stocking (kitten)
  4. Batcat (kitten)
  5. Socks (kitten)
This one's name is Stocking

After months of feeding the kittens, Momma had her friend help us trap Medium and Momma, and then they were sent to the vet to be "fixed". I'm not sure what that means, but Pops threatened to have me "fixed" too if I keep peeing where I'm not supposed to.

Now that Medium and Momma are back, they don't seem to be moving away. They're still there, even though Momma doesn't feed them as much anymore. I guess I could try to get used to them and share the garden, but they're pretty pushy and nasty about it. I've seen the kittens go up to play with my Humans, but they still get all hissy when I go near them.

The Momma cat is always around, and she's fierce!

Maybe the Dog Knight should pay them a visit one of these nights...

The cats are breeding!

Last Saturday, I went out with my Humans to visit Aunt Jol, grandmother and Knuckles. Then while I was away, guess what happened?!?

A cat snuck into our garden and squeezed out a baby kitten thing! A cat spawned in my garden!!!

This would never have happened if I was at home protecting my family from evil cats. Oh no... I failed my Humans! How could I?

It's a ginger... which means it
might be related to the Evil Cat!

Anyway, we weren't around so we didn't know what happened, but grandma and grandpa were around so they saw it. Apparently the baby kitty had a dangly thing that was caught under a garden chair, and so the momma cat couldn't carry it away. Grandma and grandpa had to look after the baby kitty for a while, by feeding it some milk, wrapping it in a blanket, and then of course, freeing it from being stuck to the chair.

The momma cat came back later and took the baby kitty away, no doubt to train it to be sneaky and conspire against dogs and humans. We should've dealt with the problem before the baby kitty could grow into a bigger problem, but my grandparents are just suckers for tiny fluffy things.

I guess I can't go away and visit people without things happening!!! Hiew hiew hiew!

Little birds are around!

I can't see them, but lately I've been hearing little feather-puppies singing. I think there's a nest in the garden somewhere! I'll go and have a look for them later...

But first, lemme introduce you guys to my new neighbor, Margot. She's a little Frenchie, and is really really feisty! She has escaped from her home a few times and scared my grandparents, who couldn't tell if she was a rabbit or a bat. Or both... like a babbit.

Anyway, I think I like her, because she smells nice!

Sunday Morning with Momma

NOTE: The following post was written on Sunday morning, but some silly Internet issues meant I can only put it up now. Try to pretend it's Sunday morning when you read this, ya?

What a nice morning! I woke up, and after Pops took me to the garden for a morning pee, I got to come back and get onto the bed with Momma and get some cuddles!

Snuggling with Momma

I love snuggling with Momma in the mornings. I bet you guys do too! And now, I'm on my way over to Grandmother's place to play with Knuckles and Aunt Jol. Hope you guys have a good day too!

Yaaaawn!

Evil Cat sighting

I haven't seen the Evil Cat for a long time now. I thought that he was chased away by The Dog Knight for good, and the only cats left are his two apprentices Chairman Meow and Eek. That's okay, because Chairman Meow and Eek are only cat-puppies, and don't really pose too much of a threat to our home.

But then I saw this in our garden:

Oh no! Poor birdy!

Destruction of this magnetude magknee maggie size can only come from the original Evil Cat. I sincerely hope that the birdy-friend lost only a few feathers, and nothing more than that.

Then while investigating the feathers, I spotted the Evil Cat out of the corner of my nose. I tried to catch him, but he was too quick (and cowardly) for me.

I'll have to be really careful from now on. The return of the Evil Cat can only mean one thing: the Dobermans are plotting something again.

The Cone of Shame

Recently, I got this scratch behind my ear, and it got kinda itchy. So I did the obvious thing and scratched it some more with my paw. I'm not sure why, but it got worse! Then it started bleeding, and got really uncomfortable. The more I scratched, the worse it got!

So Momma put some weird cream stuff on it to help it get better, but I knew how to instantly make the itch go away by scratching it. Momma got really upset, and then she put the Cone of Shame on me!

I've never seen the Cone of Shame before, but when she took it out I instantly felt its power and I cowered. I was so scared. I've never been that scared before. I mean, it was scarier than a thousand dobermans!

"Momma please! I promise I won't do
whatever I did wrong again!"

Momma had trouble putting it on me because I was so strong and fast, so she had to get Pops to help her. Every time they put it on, I squirmed my way out of it, until Momma tied it to my collar and finally I was captured by the Cone of Shame.

So I did the only thing I could at that point - I panicked. I just stood there and shook. I couldn't bring myself to move, because it was like I was held it some kinda fear shield. I felt so trapped... every time I moved, I bumped into something because I couldn't see around me. When my Humans took me outside to pee (they had to carry me up and down the stairs because I couldn't walk the stairs myself), I couldn't do it. I just froze out there. They had to take off the Cone before I could pee.

After the garden, they put it back on and I returned to my frozen, panicked state. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't even bring myself to lie or sit down. Pops stayed up with me for a while, hoping that I would fall asleep but I couldn't. Later on, Momma felt so bad for me that she took the Cone off. And it was only then that I could bring myself to fall asleep.

But I still had nightmares about the Cone of Shame that night...

The Price of Freedom

I was out on patrol again the other morning, and I saw not one but two cats in my garden! There was the Evil Cat, and a new cat that I have now codenamed Chairman Meow. The forces of Evil are growing in numbers, and The Dog Knight must rise again to protect my Humans.

Chairman Meow, hiding in plain sight

As the Beagle from down the road once told me, the Price of Freedom is eternal vigilants viligi vegetables... erm, the Price of Freedom is eternal snooping around!

There's something evil in the garden

Over the weekend, Flatty didn't end up going to the zoo because no dogs were allowed. But it was a good thing that he stayed back with me, because we patrolled the garden and found some suspicious activity. Can you see what's wrong with this picture?

Still can't see it? Try clicking here to see the answer.

That's right! It was the Evil Cat's apprentice, Chairman Meow! The original Evil Cat must be hiding in its lair somewhere, and is now sending its minions to do its dirty work. It's been a while since I've had to go head-to-head with a cat, but luckily I had Flatty by my side. Chairman Meow saw how outnumbered it was, and fled!

Like I said, it was a good thing Flatty didn't go visit the zoo or I might've been in trouble!

BC Attack

Yesterday at class, my brother Knuckles got a little bit too irritating with a big Border Collie, and the BC just snapped and bullied Knuckles. Poor Knuckles got a shock, but nobody was more freaked out than Aunt Jol. Luckily, the BC's human was there to break up the fight and Knuckles didn't get injured much at all, but the two of us were definitely quite spooked and edgy after that. We just went back to Grandmother's place and hid quietly for a bit.

Nope, no Border Collies outside Grandmother's place

This morning, I'm still feeling a bit antsy. I was a bit afraid of going out into the Great Outside, even if it was just the garden. I was also so nervous, I did wet poopy.

I think I'd better not mess around with the big dogs for a while.

Gotta keep looking over my shoulder, just to be sure

My daily "Greet Pops" routine

Hey guys!

Sorry I've not been updating my blog... I've been so happy getting back into my usual routine with Momma! Anyway, since we're talking about routines, I thought I might share a video of what I do everyday when Pops gets back from class.

Rainy Mornings and piano poops

I think there's nothing quite like the smell of a rainy morning. Like, when you wake up, and it's pouring rain outside, but the rain is over by the time your Humans let you outside. The grass smells nicer, the air is fresher, it's like the whole world just got a bath, but you were lucky enough to be hiding in your crib while it happened.

Our garden, after the rain

In Singapore, when it rains in the afternoon, it's really horrible cos it gets all nasty and sticky, and the air is hot and humid. But in the mornings and evenings, the sun isn't so bad, so you feel cooler, and there's usually a nice cool breeze to catch on your face. It's awesome!

But maybe it might get a bit too chilly. I noticed that sometimes Aunt Mainey wears her socks while she's playing the piano, so that must mean her feet get cold. Aunt Mainey plays really nice music on the piano, so the other day I decided to show her how much I like her music by leaving her a hot fudgey sausage near the pedals to warm her feet.

I don't think Aunt Mainey liked it though, because she went crazy when she stepped on it. She even changed her socks! She didn't yell at me or anything, but I still get the feeling she wasn't happy with me.

Warm fudge sausage #2

I don't get it... so this morning I tried again by leaving her another sausage. Hopefully she'll be happier with this one.

Update: She didn't step into the second sausage. But she wasn't too impressed either!

My morning routine

I have a pretty regular routine in the mornings. Every morning, I'll wake up at about 6am, and then lounge around for about 10-15 mins till I hear one of two things: my humans waking up, or that beeping thing that wakes my Momma up (but somehow only my Momma, and not my Pops). When I hear this stuff, then I'll start whining for attention (I've learnt that whining before these noises doesn't do anything).

At this point, Momma will wake up and play with me a bit, before getting ready for work. She'll take a shower, do her hair (sometimes with that scary noisy hairdryer thing) and put stuff on her face. I'll hang out in the bathroom with her for a while, and usually I'll drag my toys like GG and Miss Crab in here with me. Sometimes though, they leave their clothes on the floor and I'll snuggle into them and then have a good chew (though Momma hates it when I chew up her dresses).

Around 7-ish, I'll get a bit bored and try to wake Pops up. Pops isn't as easy to wake up as Momma, and I'll have to whine and whine and hiew-hiew for at least 20 minutes before he gets up. Sometimes, if his arms or legs dangle over the bed, I'll go and nibble those and it usually helps.

After Pops wakes up, he'll take me downstairs and out to the garden when I can check if the Evil Cat or the Squirrels are around, and then leave my Golden Offerings to keep them away. Momma then comes down for a quick breakfast, and then comes my favorite part: THE CAR RIDE! Pops drives Momma to the train station every morning, and I get to go along with them.

I don't have any new pictures of the car ride now, but you can check some old pics here. I love getting wind in my face!

After that, I come home with my Pops and he'll get ready for class, and then when he goes off I can write my morning blog post.

And that's how I start my days. Except a couple of times a week, when my humans don't need to go to work and stuff, and then they sleep in till really late. I hate those days. I like playing in the mornings!

Pops' day at home

Yesterday was a good day. Pops had the day off, and he spent the whole day at home with me! He had some work to do, so he was using the computer a lot, but he did manage to spend some time to chill with me. That was awesome.

Me and my friends, WALL-E and EVE

We played tag around the living room, and he took some photos of me sitting on the WALL-E bench. Do you like my friends WALL-E and EVE? My humans received this bench as a wedding present from those nice folks at Disney after they took a wedding photo with a bench like this one... and now it's my turn to take a picture! The robots used to freak me out a little bit at night, but after a while you get used to them and I think they're both really cute now.

My Christmas tree!

As you can see, Grandma and Aunt Mainey have also put up the Christmas tree, and so far I've not left a Golden Offering on it yet (Momma says Santa Paws won't bring me any presents if I do). I love the Christmas tree. It's so sparkly and pretty, and so tall! It's taller than my humans!

I also got extra garden time, and I went around sniffing out the usual bad guys like the Evil Cat and those Stalker Squirrels. Luckily for them, they weren't around so I didn't have to chase any of them.

No squirrels? Good!

We did find something a bit nasty though... it was a dead snake being eaten up by ants! So gross! I mean, it's bad enough that we have snakes in the garden - where did it come from??? I'll have to be extra careful in the garden now... it's kinda freaky.

Nothing grosser than a dead
snake being eaten up by ants

But what's grosser is being eaten up by ants. If I had to die, I really wouldn't want an army of little bugs crawling over my body and eating me up. YUCK!

After that, I watched a DVD with my Pops (I got to snuggle on the bed!) and waited till Momma was done with work. Momma had to work late, so I managed to fit in a nap while waiting for her. My humans have been so busy this week, they haven't even watched the football games they've recorded yet!

PS Grandpa wants to sell or give the bench away, cos he thinks it's silly. Pops is trying to delay selling it... I hope he delays it forever!

Scaredy Cat 2

That Evil Cat is really scared of me now! The other day, I totally ambushed him and scared the furballs right out of him! He left some clues under the table, so I'm going to show it to the Beagle from down the road and we'll figure out what their plans are.

Random Video Moment

Remember I told you guys about the Stalker Squirrel that's always staring at me from outside the window, or following me to the park? Well, I saw them in the garden again last weekend... and here's a surprise twist: there's actually two of them! So that's how they managed to stalk in one place and then another by seemingly teleporting instantly. There's actually two psycho squirrels working together, stalking me and conspiring to do dog-knows-what! I'd better be careful around them... I bet they're working for a higher power, like a Doberman or something.

Garden fun

Now that I'm not so young and fragile anymore, my Humans have been regularly taking me out to the garden for me to run around and leave Golden Offerings on Grandma's plants. While I'm out here, I can also sniff out the Evil Cat's pee, and then pee over it. I'm telling you, that cat sure gets around!

They let me out in the mornings before they head out to work/school, and again when they get back. And after meals too. It's a pretty good routine, and I love it!

The garden is not as big as the park that I went to the other week, but it's got that nice green grass stuff and I can run around and around without slipping and sliding. It's sweet, and it's got this nice breeze and I can stick my face out and get some wind in the face. It's not as nice as the wind I get during my car rides, but it's like a gentler, more relaxing version.

There's also a rocky path that I have to be careful while crossing... those pebbles might hurt my paw if I'm not too careful, I think. It's pretty dangerous looking, but luckily I'm a brave dog and I'm awesome enough to hop from stepping stone to stepping stone. Just to remind this pebbly path who's the boss, I pwned it with some poop.
