Happy new year!

Well, friends, another year has passed, and we're going into 2012 now! I just wanted to wish everyone a great 2012!

Just to show the passing of time, check out these photos Pops took of me. I'm not sure why, but he loves taking sleeping photos of me.

Anyway, I also wanted to tell you guys that one of Momma's friends is going to adopt Stocking! So we just have a couple more kittens to find Forever Homes for.

Happy new year!

Finding a forever home for the kittens

As you guys know, there's a family of cats living in our yard right now. My Humans have gotten quite attached to them, and it makes me pretty jealous sometimes when they feed the cats and play with them. Don't they know that the cats hiss and snarl at me all the time??? I know they don't have a home and all, but still... Momma is always telling me that we have to look out for less fortunate fur-friends who aren't as lucky as I am. Even if they're cats.

The tense border relations between me and the cats
This Christmas, Momma told Pops the only thing she wanted was to find the kittens a Forever Home of their own. So the other day, Pops went out into the garden to take photos of them so that he can post them up in Facebook, share the pics with the Cat Welfare society, and basically try to find humans to adopt them.

Now we finally have individual photos of the kitties, so we can share them with you too!

This is Medium. She was born in the previous batch,
and is the big sister of the bunch
Batcat is the bravest kittie, and always
the first to approach my Humans
Socks is the most timid, and hides from us all the time
I think you can guess why this one is named Stocking
We've had some luck with potential adopters, so hopefully Momma will get her wish this Christmas, and I'll get my garden back! I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I'm sometimes afraid to go out into the garden because I see them snooping around. Especially during the rainy season, because they're always using our garden as shelter.

This is one of their favorite spots to huddle up
If any of you guys live in Singapore and would like to adopt one (or know someone that might), please contact us! If you're interested, Pops has more photos on Facebook here.

I probably won't be online for the next few days, so Merry Christmas, fellow dog-bloggers! I hope you all get really nice presents!

Margot's visit

I was just reminded of this time a while ago, when Margot the Frenchie was accidentally locked out of her home. She tends to sneak out of the gate and into The Great Outside when her humans aren't looking, so it was bound to happen eventually.

Anyway, she likes to come and play at our place, so she came over for a bit. My Humans tried to ring the doorbell at her place, but nobody was home.

Margot had a tag, but it was pretty scratched up and we couldn't read the phone number so well. Pops had to dial a whole bunch of different numbers until we could finally reach Margot's humans. Please, doggy pals, remind your humans to keep your name tags up to date in case this ever happens to you!

Anyway, I got to hang out and play with Margot in my playpen for a bit, so that was really nice. Even after she left, I kept sniffing the spots on the floor where she was lying on, because I missed her already!

Christmas is almost here!

Well, the tree's up, the presents are appearing under the tree, and my Humans have been busy wrapping presents for the past few days. Yep, Christmas is coming!

I didn't have anything to leave under the tree, so I did the next best thing and left a Golden Offering.

Anyway, for Momma's Christmas gift this year, Pops did something different and donated some money to the SPCA instead. He said that Momma would much rather have the money spent on looking after some dogs without forever homes, rather than getting something for herself.

So I decided to do something similar too. My Humans and I went through all of my old toys and towels, and decided to donate them all to dogs without forever homes. It's the first time I'm giving away something other than Golden Offerings and Poop Nuggets, so it feels quite different for me. I like the feeling though. I didn't like it at first, because I wanted to play with all my old toys again (even though I haven't touched them for a long time), but now I feel good about being so generous.

We are also trying to find forever homes for the kittens that live in our garden. Pops is going to try to take nicer photos of them today.

Happy holidays, doggy pals!

Aunt Mainey's back!

The airport has been good to me lately. First, my Momma and Pops got back from their trip to Bali, which was great! And now, Aunt Mainey is back from Australia to play with me!

Well, like the Beagle from down the road always says "The airport taketh, and the airport giveth."

I don't really know why he lisps sometimes. Maybe it's a beagle thing.

And in other news, Aunt Jol passed her driving test! Now maybe she can give me car rides too!

The family of cats that live in our yard

Remember how an Evil Cat gave birth to a bunch of cats in our yard last time? It's been happening again, and now there is a family of five cats living in my garden! And you know what the strange thing is? Momma's encouraging them!

HIEW!

A whole bunch of cats have

moved into my garden!

I mean, why would she want me to share my garden, the garden that I so dearly love to pee on, with cats? And these cats are selfish and mean too... the mother cat hisses at me all the time. I'm actually kinda scared of her too, cos I've seen those sharp claws of hers and she doesn't seem to be afraid of my bark. I don't think my bite matches up with her claws.

Momma kept insisting that the kittens are not as lucky as I am to have a forever home, so she wanted to give them shelter, and even fed them. They'd actually go to the pet store and get special food for the kittens! Has the world gone crazy???

Right now, we've got five cats in our garden:
  1. Momma (cat)
  2. Medium (cat, from the previous litter).
  3. Stocking (kitten)
  4. Batcat (kitten)
  5. Socks (kitten)
This one's name is Stocking

After months of feeding the kittens, Momma had her friend help us trap Medium and Momma, and then they were sent to the vet to be "fixed". I'm not sure what that means, but Pops threatened to have me "fixed" too if I keep peeing where I'm not supposed to.

Now that Medium and Momma are back, they don't seem to be moving away. They're still there, even though Momma doesn't feed them as much anymore. I guess I could try to get used to them and share the garden, but they're pretty pushy and nasty about it. I've seen the kittens go up to play with my Humans, but they still get all hissy when I go near them.

The Momma cat is always around, and she's fierce!

Maybe the Dog Knight should pay them a visit one of these nights...

My Humans are back from Bali!

So just to get things up to date, I've spent the last 10 days in misery. Well, it's nice to hang out with my grandparents and all, but they don't pamper me the way my Momma and Pops do. And they definitely don't let me sleep in their bedroom either.

When I smelled my Humans coming through the door, I was so happy that I farted three times in a row! And then pooped twice, but not in row.

It was so wonderful to have them back! I ran around in circles, I pounced on Momma over and over again, and I even occasionally showed my Pops some attention (when Momma insisted). Then they started unpacking, and that's when I noticed something was wrong, and maybe my Humans didn't love me as much as I love them.

Momma... where are my presents?

They didn't buy me anything from Bali.

No snacks, no toys... not anything. I thought maybe that was just a little mistake. But things got worse!

After 10 days away, the first thing my Pops does for me is to take me into the torture chamber and give me a bath! Why would he do that? I've been grooming my doggy smell for the past week, just to be all nice and smelly for them. Sure I had some pee-paw action going on, but that's no big deal, right?

I hiew-hiewed a lot in the shower, and did my best to hide in corners and keep away from my Pops. He got annoyed at my antics, and started telling me how lucky I was to have someone pick out my dingleberries for me, when the dogs in Bali didn't get proper baths and were poor, dirty, and hungry.

Pops says that the dogs in Bali are hungry
and poor, and I should feel very lucky.

So that was that. I didn't get any presents, and I got showered. But not everything is all bad though....

At least I get to sleep on their feet again. I like snuggling up to my Humans when I sleep.

I'm back!

Wow it's been half a year since I last posted! Pops and I have been pretty preoccupied with other things (at least, that's what he says... I think he's just lazy), so we haven't had the chance to post much. But then the other day I noticed that Salinger was asking about me, so I just hiewed and hiewed until Pops decided to help me blog again!

This is actually a pretty embarrassing picture,
but Momma likes the Lion King

Here's a quick summary of what's happened in the last 6 months:
  1. I get to chill on my Humans' bed all the time now, and not just after my baths.
  2. I haven't gotten any new toys at all, because Momma thinks I have too many as it is.
  3. Turdley Uncle Qian is as turdley as ever. He didn't give me any of his human food.
  4. The Mommy Cat gave birth to ANOTHER set of kittens! Now a family of five cats - Mommy, Medium (from the previous litter), and three kittens (White Leg, Pink Nose, and Black) - have moved into our front yard.
  5. I barked at the Mommy Cat, and she tried to kill me!
  6. Momma and Pops managed to trap Mommy and Medium cats, and brought them to the vet to sterilize them. I don't know what that means, but it sounds scary.
  7. My ears still get stinky and icky all the time.
  8. Knuckles and I still get into fights a lot.
  9. I missed reading about your adventures a lot!
So yeah, I'll try to keep writing more often! There's going to be another break because my Humans are going on a short holiday, but I will try to sneak a post out or two!

The cats are breeding!

Last Saturday, I went out with my Humans to visit Aunt Jol, grandmother and Knuckles. Then while I was away, guess what happened?!?

A cat snuck into our garden and squeezed out a baby kitten thing! A cat spawned in my garden!!!

This would never have happened if I was at home protecting my family from evil cats. Oh no... I failed my Humans! How could I?

It's a ginger... which means it
might be related to the Evil Cat!

Anyway, we weren't around so we didn't know what happened, but grandma and grandpa were around so they saw it. Apparently the baby kitty had a dangly thing that was caught under a garden chair, and so the momma cat couldn't carry it away. Grandma and grandpa had to look after the baby kitty for a while, by feeding it some milk, wrapping it in a blanket, and then of course, freeing it from being stuck to the chair.

The momma cat came back later and took the baby kitty away, no doubt to train it to be sneaky and conspire against dogs and humans. We should've dealt with the problem before the baby kitty could grow into a bigger problem, but my grandparents are just suckers for tiny fluffy things.

I guess I can't go away and visit people without things happening!!! Hiew hiew hiew!

Can't sleep in peace

Once upon a time, I was only allowed up onto my Humans' bed immediately after I come out of my Weekly Torture Ritual in the bathroom, when I'm all nice and clean. But I guess my Humans figured out just how much I love it, and how wonderful it is for them to be able to hug and cuddle me while they watch TV, so I get to go on the bed almost every day now.

Zzzz...

The other night, I did what I normally do when I'm all cozy in their bed - I fell asleep. But apparently, it was during The Gilmore Girls, and my Humans thought that this was a TV show I should watch.

Oh so comfy...
Don't bother me now!

Anyway, they started teasing me in my sleep by nudging me with their feet. Yeah I know... like how rude, right??? Hiew hiew hiew!

So yeah... I'll have to pick a different spot to snooze in next time!

Twink is well!

I just wanted to drop a quick post to say that our dear little teeny friend Twink is recovering!

 Twink is all better now!

I was shocked when I read that Twinkie had fallen really ill, and today when I saw that she's gotten better, I just had to tell you guys! Wooooot!

Good on you, little girl!

Nobody puts Sonic in the corner!

Last night, grandpa invited a whole bunch of his friends over for dinner. Most of them were alright (though they all smelled old), but one of them was this woman who was afraid of dogs! And because of that, I wasn't allowed near them all night long.

Who would be afraid of little furry me?

At first they put me in my play pen, but I wanted to go out and play with the guests so I barked and whined as any self-respecting dog would. So then not only did they decide they didn't want me sniffing their guests' feet, they didn't want to hear me call out either. So I was put into the kitchen. I was so upset! Momma and Pops were too, so they took turns excusing themselves from the dinner table to keep me company in the kitchen.

This is what I don't understand... this is my home! Why should I be kept in the corner of my own home just because some visitor comes and decides they're afraid of a little super cute dog? Why should they be afraid of me? The Beagle from down the road says it's probably because she had abused or eaten dogs in the past, and she's afraid that I can smell her guilt.

But still... it's my home! Maybe SHE should be kept in the kitchen if she feels safer away from dogs. Hiew hiew hiew!

Anyway, sorry for not writing more often in the past month. I missed you guys lots!

Kenji's birthday party

Last night, Pops came home and instead of just taking me outside to pee, he took me to the Great Outside! I went on a car ride to a place that, well, to be honest it smelled a little bit turdley. I'll explain that later.

Anyway, Pops took me for a walk through a crowded area, and there were lots of people walking and shopping. I went on a special elevator just for dogs, and went up to the rooftop of a mall.

A special elevator!

Then Pops took me to a doggy cafe, where Kenji, Baby, Alfie and this other dog that I've never met were all gathered! It was a birthday party for Kenji!

It was so cool, because dogs were allowed to run around and jump onto chairs and couches. There was a birthday cake, but I didn't really care. Pops tried to feed me, but I was too distracted by my friends to eat!

Mainly it was just sniffing each other, a few snarls so I don't want to bore you guys with the details. Instead, I'll just show you some pictures.

Kenji's birthday cake

A welcoming dog!

Me and my aunt Annabelle

I'm not interested in food, Pops!

The birthday gang

Oh wait! Something interesting did happen! For no reason, Alfie decided to pee on my uncle's girlfriend's foot! Her jeans and shoe was wet with pee!

Little birds are around!

I can't see them, but lately I've been hearing little feather-puppies singing. I think there's a nest in the garden somewhere! I'll go and have a look for them later...

But first, lemme introduce you guys to my new neighbor, Margot. She's a little Frenchie, and is really really feisty! She has escaped from her home a few times and scared my grandparents, who couldn't tell if she was a rabbit or a bat. Or both... like a babbit.

Anyway, I think I like her, because she smells nice!

I am Sonicles!

Lately, my Humans have been reading a bunch of books by some human called David Gemmell, about those Greek heroes. It started with Pops, then Momma started reading them, and now Aunt Jol is hooked on those books.

There's just something about those stories that really interests them, and I'm not sure why. Momma thinks that those Greek characters are so romantic because they're all tragic and poetic.

Anyway, for a week my Humans renamed me Sonicles, to inspire me to be more heroic. Little do they know, that while I act all mild-mannered and cowardly when I'm around them, I'm also the Dog Knight when they're asleep or at work.

Anyway, check out this painting Pops did of Momma and me, where she kinda looks like a Greek princess.

Back from my break!

Hi doggy pals!

It's me, Sonic! I haven't been blogging for such a long time, that I think some of you might have completely forgotten about me already. I blame Pops, of course. Because it's never my fault... it's always the Humans' fault.

So I've been chilling out a lot...

So here are a few updates about what's been going on for the past few weeks:

There was a week when Pops and I made many many trips to the nasty place the humans call the airport. First we sent Aunt Mainey away, then it was Momma, then my grandparents, then finally Uncle Eff. Basically, in 10 days Pops and I sent every member of our family away! It was so awful. I missed everyone so much!

Being home alone with Pops meant we had quite a bit of quality time together. We had a long talk about Pops' childhood and how grandma used to bring him along to awful activities like shopping or visiting her friends, and Pops would have nothing to do but sit in a corner and stare at a wall. You see, this was a long time ago, before humans had things like iPhones, laptops, or even something my Pops called a "Gameboy".

He then promised me that he would never bring me along to boring places like that. I'm not sure I know what he's talking about though - everywhere is interesting to me, and I can always keep myself entertained by leaving Golden Offerings around.

Pops bought me some snacks to
distract me from missing Momma

Momma and my grandparents are back now. Momma went to Bali again, and came back  all darker... like a daschund. Then she raved and raved and raved about the beauty of the ocean and how fun it was to surf, while Pops just smiled and stared blankly.

So excited was Momma that we ended up renting two surfing movies for her to watch: Point Break and Blue Crush. And then that weekend, they took me to the beach for the very first time!

I have to say, I didn't really like the beach. It was awful and scary! It's hot, the ground is funny and soft, and the water! There was this part where the water kept rushing at me and trying to wash me away! I was so scared, but my Humans thought it was funny. They're weird like that.

That's a lot of water out there...

No, Momma... I don't want to go there!

Time to get out of here!

Anyway, I'm going to go and catch up with your blogs now. I'll write again soon!

I'm 2 years old!

This post is a little bit late, and the person to blame is of course, my Pops. But anyway, last Sunday was my birthday! I'm now 2 years old, and in dog years that would make me a teenager now!

I'm a big dog now!

Unfortunately, my Momma and Pops were away on a weekend getaway... but at least my grandparents and Aunt Mainey were around to keep my company. So I wasn't left alone or anything, and it gave me some time to think about the things that have changed since I was a little puppy.

I used to be afraid of The Great Outside, and would hide behind the door. I used to need Momma and Pops to carry me up and down the stairs, but now I can climb up and down by myself... and I'm even faster than they are!

In fact, I am completely independent now, and can do pretty much everything myself. The only things I need my Humans for are:

  1. Taking a bath (though I think I can get by without ever taking one)
  2. Filling my food bowl
  3. Cleaning my food bowl
  4. Filling my water bowl
  5. Cleaning off my dingleberries
  6. Traveling to Knuckles' place
  7. Brushing my fur
  8. Dabbing my paws clean after I pee-paw myself
  9. Opening the Big Gate to the Great Outside
  10. Going for a walk in the Great Outside
  11. Getting onto my Humans' bed
  12. Cleaning up my Golden Offerings
  13. Buying more toys for me
  14. Buying more food for me
  15. Putting on or taking off my collar
  16. Updating this blog
  17. Switching on the TV so I can watch Bones
  18. Protecting me from Dobermans and cat ambushes
  19. Opening the container with all my treats
  20. Fishing out my treats when they roll under the bed
  21. Reaching for my toys when I toss them onto the table
  22. Opening room doors
  23. Pulling my bed out of my crate
  24. Packing my toys away (not that I should need to)
  25. Belly rubs!

But other than that, I can do everything by myself cos I'm a big dog!

What are some things you guys need help with?

Random Video Moment

The other morning, I was really sleepy. And what does my Pops do? He takes an embarrassing video of me trying to stay awake. *yawn!*

Yanni's new friend Jersey

The other day, my Humans went over to my Pops' godma's place, where Yanni lives. And you know what? They had adopted a new dog! Apparently their friend had just too many fur friends in their home, so Pops' godma adopted a friend for Yanni - just a few hours before my Humans went over for dinner.

Meet Jersey!

Yanni is a bit old, and he tends to like to laze around a lot. But the moment Jersey moved in, he's been following her everywhere and being a really gracious host. Apparently he was more active than he'd been in years!

Momma just went nuts over Jersey. Everyone did, in fact. It was great that Jersey was really nice and sweet, and got along really well with everyone. Well, maybe not me, because I haven't been over to visit yet. I hope I can soon though!

Everyone loves Jersey

Weekend Grooming

Hi guys!

Sorry I haven't written in a long while, but my Pops has been hogging the computer for his work, and tends to do that EVERY night. I think Humans really need to get a regular routine going, or else they'll forget important things like letting their dogs blog.

Anyway, on Saturday Uncle Dave visited from Australia (more about that in another post) and then on Sunday, we sent him off to the airport, early in the morning. That meant a really early start to the day for me.

We then picked up Aunt Jol and Knuckles, and we got taken to the groomer! The groomer was late though, so we had to wait in the car for him to open the store. While doing so, Knuckles and I pleaded to be spared from grooming.

That didn't work of course, and we got groomed.

Between the early start, running around with Knuckles, and the stress from grooming, I had a really really good nap on the way back home that day.

Sleeping in my car...

That cat that didn't care

Here's a video we took during Christmas visiting:

I saw a cat, but since it was Christmas, we didn't try to attack one another. We just did our thing, and went our own ways. That's what Christmas is about!

Furniture pets

Recently, some of our relatives moved into a new apartment.

Knuckles and I were among the first visitors, and we were also their very first shelf ornaments!

What else could you want on your shelves?

Honestly, I think we make furniture look good.

Cos we're fluffy... like trees!

On a sidenote, I noticed that Momma always jokes about finding a new Pops for me, but never jokes about getting a new dog. I think that means it's official: Momma loves me more than she loves Pops. Cos he's replaceable, but I'm not!

New Years and Pops' birthday

When it comes to the end of the year, we celebrate two things at our home: the coming of the new year, and Pops' birthday. My Pops was born on the last day of the year, so Momma always teases him about having only 24 hours to celebrate being a certain age before he has to start counting down to being older again.

This year, he turns about... 500,000 dog years old. Yep, he's a pretty old human.

Can you see me staring down Cousin Tails?

So anyway, that meant that lots of people came over to party, including Turdley Uncle Qian (who didn't give me a Christmas present this year) and Cousin Tails. This year, we didn't really get into any fights, although there was a peeing contest that the humans didn't really enjoy.

The humans ate a lot of food, played Xbox, and made a lot of noise. I tried to beg for scraps, but didn't do very well. I think I have to work on my whining a bit. The Beagle from down the road says I've been getting complase complica compute lazy.

Here you can see me trying to beg for food from Aunt Sarah and Uncle Alex. Uncle Alex is like the biggest human I've ever seen, so his head was accidentally cropped from the photo.

Whine whine whine

Then it was time for cake! This year, Momma went and got Pops the bestest birthday cake he's ever gotten.

Stormtrooper cake!

It was a custom-made Stormtrooper cake! Basically, it was a really sugary and sweet cake - or so I heard. Cos I wasn't allowed to eat any of it. Hiew hiew hiew...

Happy birthday, Pops!

After that, it was more messing around with Cousin Tails, and receiving lots of attention from the humans. I like guests. Guests always pamper the dogs.

Stand-off on the stairs

Look how big my nose is!

Hope you all had a good start to 2011! Happy new year!
