Aunt Mainey's back!

The airport has been good to me lately. First, my Momma and Pops got back from their trip to Bali, which was great! And now, Aunt Mainey is back from Australia to play with me!

Well, like the Beagle from down the road always says "The airport taketh, and the airport giveth."

I don't really know why he lisps sometimes. Maybe it's a beagle thing.

And in other news, Aunt Jol passed her driving test! Now maybe she can give me car rides too!

The cats are breeding!

Last Saturday, I went out with my Humans to visit Aunt Jol, grandmother and Knuckles. Then while I was away, guess what happened?!?

A cat snuck into our garden and squeezed out a baby kitten thing! A cat spawned in my garden!!!

This would never have happened if I was at home protecting my family from evil cats. Oh no... I failed my Humans! How could I?

It's a ginger... which means it
might be related to the Evil Cat!

Anyway, we weren't around so we didn't know what happened, but grandma and grandpa were around so they saw it. Apparently the baby kitty had a dangly thing that was caught under a garden chair, and so the momma cat couldn't carry it away. Grandma and grandpa had to look after the baby kitty for a while, by feeding it some milk, wrapping it in a blanket, and then of course, freeing it from being stuck to the chair.

The momma cat came back later and took the baby kitty away, no doubt to train it to be sneaky and conspire against dogs and humans. We should've dealt with the problem before the baby kitty could grow into a bigger problem, but my grandparents are just suckers for tiny fluffy things.

I guess I can't go away and visit people without things happening!!! Hiew hiew hiew!

I am Sonicles!

Lately, my Humans have been reading a bunch of books by some human called David Gemmell, about those Greek heroes. It started with Pops, then Momma started reading them, and now Aunt Jol is hooked on those books.

There's just something about those stories that really interests them, and I'm not sure why. Momma thinks that those Greek characters are so romantic because they're all tragic and poetic.

Anyway, for a week my Humans renamed me Sonicles, to inspire me to be more heroic. Little do they know, that while I act all mild-mannered and cowardly when I'm around them, I'm also the Dog Knight when they're asleep or at work.

Anyway, check out this painting Pops did of Momma and me, where she kinda looks like a Greek princess.

Weekend Grooming

Hi guys!

Sorry I haven't written in a long while, but my Pops has been hogging the computer for his work, and tends to do that EVERY night. I think Humans really need to get a regular routine going, or else they'll forget important things like letting their dogs blog.

Anyway, on Saturday Uncle Dave visited from Australia (more about that in another post) and then on Sunday, we sent him off to the airport, early in the morning. That meant a really early start to the day for me.

We then picked up Aunt Jol and Knuckles, and we got taken to the groomer! The groomer was late though, so we had to wait in the car for him to open the store. While doing so, Knuckles and I pleaded to be spared from grooming.

That didn't work of course, and we got groomed.

Between the early start, running around with Knuckles, and the stress from grooming, I had a really really good nap on the way back home that day.

Sleeping in my car...

New Years and Pops' birthday

When it comes to the end of the year, we celebrate two things at our home: the coming of the new year, and Pops' birthday. My Pops was born on the last day of the year, so Momma always teases him about having only 24 hours to celebrate being a certain age before he has to start counting down to being older again.

This year, he turns about... 500,000 dog years old. Yep, he's a pretty old human.

Can you see me staring down Cousin Tails?

So anyway, that meant that lots of people came over to party, including Turdley Uncle Qian (who didn't give me a Christmas present this year) and Cousin Tails. This year, we didn't really get into any fights, although there was a peeing contest that the humans didn't really enjoy.

The humans ate a lot of food, played Xbox, and made a lot of noise. I tried to beg for scraps, but didn't do very well. I think I have to work on my whining a bit. The Beagle from down the road says I've been getting complase complica compute lazy.

Here you can see me trying to beg for food from Aunt Sarah and Uncle Alex. Uncle Alex is like the biggest human I've ever seen, so his head was accidentally cropped from the photo.

Whine whine whine

Then it was time for cake! This year, Momma went and got Pops the bestest birthday cake he's ever gotten.

Stormtrooper cake!

It was a custom-made Stormtrooper cake! Basically, it was a really sugary and sweet cake - or so I heard. Cos I wasn't allowed to eat any of it. Hiew hiew hiew...

Happy birthday, Pops!

After that, it was more messing around with Cousin Tails, and receiving lots of attention from the humans. I like guests. Guests always pamper the dogs.

Stand-off on the stairs

Look how big my nose is!

Hope you all had a good start to 2011! Happy new year!

Weekend update

Last weekend, I got a bit of a surprise - Pops took me out for a car ride in the Great Outside! We went to pick Momma and Aunt Jol up from town, and then we went to drop Aunt Jol at home. Normally, that's more or less the end of my time in the Great Outside, but this night I got more!

We drove further to pick Turdley Uncle Qian up from his place, and then we went back to Happy Daze! We haven't been back here since Uncle Qian bought me dinner a few months ago, and yeah... it wasn't as spectacular as I remembered. Both the human and the dog food served there wasn't all that nice, and the waitress snubbed us a lot. She must be part poodle.

Although I was allowed to sit at the table,
I chose to sit underneath it.

They ran out of beef meatballs (it seems like they're always out of meatballs!) so Momma ordered a banana muffin for me. It wasn't very appetizing at all.

Here's half of the muffin, cos I couldn't really finish it.

But the night wasn't all bad! Aside from the cafe, I also got to visit a pet store, where I flashed Momma a really cute smile and she couldn't help but buy me a new bed to replace my old brown one. The new one is Sonic blue in color!

Then I also got to visit the video store because the human behind the counter was kind enough to let me in. I wanted to take photos to remember this special occasion, but Pops was too busy checking out the DVDs with Uncle Qian.

Humans... so easily distracted!

Then after that, it was time to go home, where Miss Crab and I made full use of my new bed!

You're both mine now!

Foursquare, Silkese-style

Today, I got to go over to grandmother's place to hang out with Knuckles. As usual, I really didn't like it when my Humans played and cuddled Knuckles, and I would dash over and start chasing Knuckles around. Pops thought it was very naughty of me, and decided to put me on "time out" by leashing me to the door.

I was a naughty boy

I was there for very long though, and soon I was out and about playing with Knuckles again. Foursquare is pretty popular with Momma and Aunt Jol (Pops retired from it a few months ago), and basically it's a game where you "check-in" at different places, and the person with the most check-ins at a place would become the mayor. I'm not sure what a mayor is, but I'm guessing it's like an alpha dog.

Knuckles and I don't have iPhones of our own, so we would check-in by leaving a Golden Offering. I became mayor of the dining room chair, and the balcony. Knuckles got the kitchen, the gate, and some other places I shouldn't mention in case grandmother is reading this.

It was definitely pretty fun. Oh yeah, check out Knuckle's new tag. It says "I <3 Food". It's pretty "duh" if you ask me, considering he steals so much human food. But it definitely suits him!

He kinda looks like he has buck teeth here.

Anyway, it was such a long day, I think I'm gonna curl up and sleep.

Weekend update

Wow, it's Thursday and I'm doing the weekend update. That shows you just how lousy I've been with updates! It's all Pops' fault, really.

Anyway, we went to visit Knuckles and Aunt Jol on the weekend, and then the humans all went to the park to see some Animal Day thing there. There were lots of dogs to meet, and things to sniff. But you know what's wrong with it? KNUCKLES AND I DIDN'T GO!

How could you leave this face at home?

Our humans wanted to go cycling, and they didn't trust us to sit nicely in a basket while they cycled. They had a poor excuse, like "it's for our own safety." Hiew hiew hiew!

But later that night was fun. Grandpa's side of the family came over for dinner, and I had lots of fun with uncles and aunts, and human puppies!

It's not like I was going to bite her!
I'm a Silkese, not a pitbull!

One of the human puppies was really scared of me, because I barked once at her. I must've let some of my Dog Knight aggressiveness out by accident when I got spooked by the crowd.

But the other human puppy was pretty cool. He kept crawling around the floor, pretending to be a dog like me. How funny is that? A human puppy pretending to be a dog puppy! Although he kept calling me "wo wo" though. What's "wo wo"? Is that human-speak for "hiew hiew"?

My name is not "Wo Wo"!

Sleeping in my car

Yesterday I got to visit Knuckles! On the way there, I was in the backseat with Aunt Jol and Aunt Cheryl, and well... it was a long car ride to Aunt Jol's place. I can't really remember much of the car ride though... the last thing I remember was yawning.

The night is so pretty and so young

Pops' big DVD sale

Momma's been bugging Pops to clear some space in the room so that she can fit in, I dunno, more shoes or something. So Pops decided that he had no choice but to go through his beloved DVD collection and find some DVDs and Xbox games to sell away at a flea market that Aunt Jol was setting up shop at.

Once again, with the fleas! Why are humans so obsessed with fleas?

Anyway, Pops managed to pile up quite a big stack of old DVDs that he never watches, and some Xbox games too. Just to show you guys how many DVDs he was planning to sell, I posed with the pile so you can see the scale.

Look at all those DVDs!

Unfortunately, not many people wanted to buy these at the flea market, and most of them came back anyway. But Pops did find a way to clear space after all! The old DVDs are now living in Aunt Mainey's room.

Random Video Moment

Here's a random video of me chasing Knuckles around at Aunt Jol's place. That silly Knuckles always hides under the little table, where I can't reach him!

Also, I'd like to congratulate Salinger and Pugsley because they're getting married in a rainbow union soon! Check out the invitation and the extremely cute photo of the two pugs!

My burger dream, and a doggie nightmare

This morning, I had a dream... I dreamt that we were in a burger joint, and Aunt Jol and Momma were there, with big plates of fries and giant burgers. They were feeding each other, and then they were playing around and dropping fries and bits of burger onto the floor, where I could quickly snag them into my mouth. It was like, 5 second rule heaven! Every time I finished eating a french fry, another one would bounce off my head!

And they dropped a lot of fries onto the floor for me!

But then the worst thing happened.

I woke up.

It was just a dream!

I hate it when I get woken up in the middle of a good dream!

But sadly, for many dogs this nightmare of waking up hungry is a daily reality. There are lots of dogs out there who aren't lucky enough to have a Forever Home like many of us do, so they go hungry everyday.

Luckily, Pedigree has created the Adoption Drive to help dogs like these. Please go to Facebook and like their Adoption Drive. Just search for Pedigree, and you'll be sure to find it.

For every person that "Likes" the Facebook page, Pedigree will donate a bowl of food to a shelter! And then for every blog that writes a post about it, they'll donate more food too! So please, do the right thing and spread the word around!

Sunday Morning with Momma

NOTE: The following post was written on Sunday morning, but some silly Internet issues meant I can only put it up now. Try to pretend it's Sunday morning when you read this, ya?

What a nice morning! I woke up, and after Pops took me to the garden for a morning pee, I got to come back and get onto the bed with Momma and get some cuddles!

Snuggling with Momma

I love snuggling with Momma in the mornings. I bet you guys do too! And now, I'm on my way over to Grandmother's place to play with Knuckles and Aunt Jol. Hope you guys have a good day too!

Yaaaawn!

Random Picture Moment

Here's a pic of Knuckles, Aunt Jol and me!

Hey I'm being squashed!

I can paw!

About a week or two ago, Aunt Jol taught Knuckles how to "paw" and every time he did it, he got a snack! So I figured that it would be a great way to get extra snacks too, so Momma and I sat down one morning and together we both learned a new trick. I'd paw, and she'd feed me. It's what's best for both of us.

In the meantime, Pops slept.

Random Picture Moment - Starring Knuckles!

Knuckles resented being referred to as a mouthless, non-smiley dog, so he got Aunt Jol to send us another pic of his new fur-cut. Here he is, smiling as brightly as he can! And wow, his normally-huge radar ears have shrunk and all the fuzz has gone straight into his nose!

Knuckles the smiling dog!

Grooming day!

Argh! Last weekend, Momma and Pops took me to the scary place where Uncle Melvin the Groomer lives. They put Knuckles and I there, and then disappeared. Later on, Tails came too! The three of us were helpless against Uncle Melvin, and he cut our fur!!!

Now I feel kinda light and breezy. It's a nice feeling actually, but so not worth the trauma from standing on the operating table and having my dignity shaved off me.

Anyway, here are some pics:

This is me, after my furcut

This is Knuckles and Aunt Jol.
He got a furcut, she didn't.

Actually, if you notice in that pic, Knuckles isn't smiling for once. That's because you can't smile if you don't have a mouth!

We don't have a pic of Tails yet, but here's Flatty after his grooming:

Actually, Flatty looks kinda the same

BTW, Flatty is still with us because his visa got extended. Yay! At least, that's what Pops says. Pops also said that we have to hide him if the Immigration People come and visit, but he says that one thing has nothing to do with the other.

Random Picture Moment - Starring Knuckles!

Give me my toy back!

Apparently I'm not the only dog who's being teased by a dog in the window. Knuckles just told me that there's one at his place who keeps stealing his toys too! Where do these guys come from? And how come we can't ever reach them to chase them away? One of these days, I'll figure out how to get through that window and chomp on their butts!

And because everyone thinks Knuckles is so cute, here's what it looks like when he wakes Aunt Jol up in the morning.

"Wake up and play with me!"

Father's Day, with special guest Flat Brutus!

So last weekend was Father's Day, and we all went over to my iGrandmother's place to celebrate together with Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Gen-Gen's family. Which means not only was Knuckles there, but cousin Tails too. But this weekend, we had an international visitor in the very flat form of Flat Brutus! Yes, the lost traveler has finally found his way over to us, thanks to the Musketeers.

"Flatty" wasted no time getting to know Tails and Knuckles, though we had to keep him away from Knuckles because he kept trying to eat the poor little guy. It's nothing personal, Flatty - Knuckles tries to eat everything. Just ask Aunt Jol's phone and my iGrandmother's glasses.

Flatty and Tails

Knuckles tries to eat Flatty's paw (but fails)

So Flatty had quite a cultural experience, because we showed him how to play mahjong. Mahjong is this game where the humans kinda shuffle these little tiles around again and again making a lot of noise, and then they stack them into little ineffective walls. But the best part is, they're usually so distracted by this game that Knuckles and I (well, mostly Knuckles) can sneak up and steal human snacks from them.

Aunt Jol, Aunt Gen-Gen and
Flatty on the mahjong table

Then there was a lot of food to eat. And guess what... we didn't get any. Flatty, being the special guest, got to pose with the food though. He was amazingly well-behaved, because he didn't make any attempt to snatch some human food while he was up there.

Why does Flatty get to pose with the food?

Flat Brutus will be hanging out with us for a while more, so expect more pictures of him as we chill and hang out!

Lamb burgers and DJ Hero

Wow last weekend was really awesome! On Saturday night, "Douchey" Uncle Qian (who insists he's not douchey) and Uncle Tim came over to cook lamb burgers for us. Well, Uncle Tim did, anyway... Uncle Qian was just here to eat. Aunt Jol and her friend Marie came along for the special treat as well.

They smell as good as they look

Uncle Tim made these lamb burgers from scratch, and they smelled really really good. Even before he started cooking them, I could smell the yumminess and I spent the whole time snooping around the kitchen. I wasn't allowed to eat the lamb burgers cos I had my own dinner, but you never know when someone might drop something on the floor and I can use the 5-second rule!

Isn't anyone going to drop something?

At the end of the cooking, here is the result:

Human food sure looks pretty

I was very very cunning and stalked everyone, but nobody dropped any food on the floor, not even my usually-klutzy Aunt Jol. I was very disappointed, but at least I got a good whiff.

The next day, Aunt Jol, Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Gen-Gen came over for a short while to play the DJ Hero game that Uncle Tim loaned to us. I could smell cousin Tails' smell all over Aunt Cheryl, so I went a bit nuts at her to sniff any messages that Tails might've left on her.

Aunt Cheryl was very shocked
when I jumped onto the couch

They enjoyed the game a lot (thanks, Uncle Tim!) but they got pretty confused by the controls, and started cheating.

I'm pretty sure you're only supposed
to use one pair of hands...

Guess humans just aren't as good as multi-tasking as dogs. Me? I can nap, look cute, and fart at the same time.

PS Today is Aunt Mainey's birthday! Happy birthday, Aunt Mainey! Come back and visit me soon!
