My Big Day Out

Yesterday was a really nice day! Firstly, my Pops foolishly went to school not realizing that his term break starts this week. After that, he came back and scooped me up into his car for a car ride!

We went all the way over to the East side (but not East enough to visit Knuckles and Tails) and met up with Uncle Aaron's momma, who was delivering some presents for Pops and Momma all the way from Australia. The presents were in really big boxes, and I was so excited about what could be hiding underneath. Maybe it's something I can chew!

After that we headed back out West to visit Uncle Javad. When we got there, Uncle Javad was in the middle of a boss fight in something called World of Warcraft. When Momma does craft, that means she's knitting a scarf or painting some bookmarks. I thought maybe Uncle Javad was sewing a chew toy for me, but he was just at his computer yelling "stack, you morons!" I don't know what that means.

Even though it was a new place for me, I behaved myself and decided not to leave any Golden Offerings in Uncle Javad's room.

But he did take me out for a walk around his front yard, and I got to sniff and smell lots of crazy new things... and then pee-pee on them.

Uncle Javad's place was pretty big, so it was awesome to walk up and down, and pee on so many new things. There was even this garbage bag that smelled so much, I had to pee not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES on it in a row. Remember, doggy friends: there's no such thing as over-kill... only caution!

Third time's a charm!

Then I did poopy in the grass, and Uncle Javad said I had "dingleberries". Now I have no idea what he meant by that, but my butt sure felt icky. Maybe dingleberries are funny plants in the grass that makes your butt feel icky. The humans quickly got me back inside, where my Pops wiped my butt down with some wet tissues.

After that, we played DJ Hero for a bit in Uncle Javad's room. Uncle Javad didn't have an Xbox though. Instead, he had something that looked like a black and fat DVD player. Oh well...

Now DJ Hero is fun! Most of my Pops' games is played on those controllers that are anything BUT dog-friendly, or on those plastic drum sets and guitars that are just way too big for me. But DJ Hero is something even a dog could play, so I recommend that you guys start barking at your humans and asking them to get you DJ Hero. I hope Santa Paws gets me one next year!

Then it was time to leave, but I suddenly spotted something outside Uncle Javad's room. It was something they called a "Possum Pelt". Now I've never met a Pelt before, but it definitely looked sneaky. After all, it was crouched in hiding on a handrail, keeping all silent and stuff. When something furry is keeping still and quiet, that means it's got something to hide and is up to no good... like a cat!

After the Pelt scare, Pops and I went home and I just snoozed all the way! That was a fun adventure! The Beagle from down the road told me that a really really old human once said: "I came. I sniffed. I peed."

That pretty much sums up my day.

My trip to town

Bright lights
Check out the bright lights of the city

So like I promised yesterday, here are a bunch of photos of my trip to town. Khyra mentioned that it was weird to see shorts in Christmas, but snow and cold weather are two things I've never seen before in Singapore. Not even during Christmas! It's always hot hot hot and hot over here, and a big furry dog like Khyra (a husky) will MELT here! Good thing there are those freezy cold air boxes all around!

So here we are in Orchard Road, Singapore's busiest shopping area. Aunt Mainey was working the closing shift at her book store, so my Momma and Pops decided to take me to town for a walk and surprise Aunt Mainey. The lights were so pretty! It was like, daytime, except at night. And in the city, the fruits in the trees can glow! That's so awesome. I wonder if I'll glow too if I eat them.

Speaking of trees, there was one mega-huge tree in front of a mall. It was like the size of a hundred St Bernards! That's really massive! And it was covered in sparkly fruits too, though these ones didn't glow.

I also learnt something about a guy called "Santa Paws" who visits all the good little puppies and brings them gifts during Christmas. I hope I get to meet him, because he sounds like a really cool guy. I did meet his friend Rudolph though, who is Santa's favorite reindeer (reindeers are animals that can fly and pull shopping carts). Pops told me before that Rudolph is a guy, but when I met Rudolph he was putting red stuff on his lips, just like what Momma does! Isn't that a girly thing?

Rudolph the cross-dressing reindeer

I got to do lots of other cool stuff too, like watching a band perform music, and sniffing garbage cans in town. Even the garbage in the city smells more exciting than the bins near our home.

Smells exciting!

Oh, and it was so crowded in the city. You couldn't walk a few steps without bumping into some random human's ankles. I was afraid some of the bigger humans were going to step on me and squish my tail or something! Everyone was rushing around like they were really excited about something. The pretty lights, I guess.

And there were a lot of human puppies too! The human puppies all thought I was really cute, and all of them wanted to pet and hug me. Ah well, I guess I am pretty cute, you know? After that we finally met up with Aunt Mainey, who was pleasantly surprised to see me after a long day at work.

Together with Aunt Mainey, we went to visit some of Momma's favorite shops. I wasn't allowed inside the malls because I'm too cute and I'd cause a human puppy stampede or something, so we could only look at the windows outside.

But what trip to the Great Outside would be complete without some Golden Offering pwnage? The first city-thing I got to pwn was a bush outside a bookstore (but not Aunt Mainey's bookstore). From there I got to pwn a big metal pole with bright lights, and lots of other bushes. I wasn't allowed to pwn any human puppies, bins, or shop windows, unfortunately.

So that's my big exciting outing! I'm going to find out more about this whole Christmas thing, and I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Where's Pops?

Last night, my humans went out with Aunt Mainey to Uncle DX's birthday bash. That's nothing new, as my humans go out together all the time. But then Momma and Aunt Mainey came back together, and I was happy for a while until I realized that - gasp!- Pops wasn't with them! That's never happened before; they always come back together. I looked up and down, and in and out our home, looking for Pops. I thought he was playing Hide and Seek with me again, but he wasn't... he was really missing!

I got so sad for a while, but then he finally came back a couple of hours later. He smelled funny and was acting pretty funny though... Momma said that he was drinking, but I drink all the time and it doesn't make me act or smell funny.

Anyway, I've got a busy day of napping and chewing lined up today so I can't write a big post, but here's a preview of tomorrow's post - my trip to town! Yes, on Friday night my humans took me to Orchard Road (the largest shopping place in Singapore) to see all the pretty Christmas lights and decorations! Check it out!

Wow... pretty lights!
Wow! Look at all the pretty lights!

I'll post up more pics tomorrow when I have more time. I'm off to my chewing and napping!

Dining out!

Last night we met up with two of Pops' friends, Uncle Qian and Uncle DX, and Uncle Qian bought us dinner at this really cool place that's dog-friendly! It was so cool, like the table was booked under my name, and had a reservation tag that said "Sonic".

Reservation tag

I really felt so important at this place. The waitress would bring out a water dish for me, I got to sit at the table on a chair and I even had my own menu!

Doggy Menu

There was quite a nice range of food to choose from, like a chicken stew, lamb meat balls and beef stew... but they didn't have pork (my favorite food). I wanted to try the lamb meat balls, but they were all out of that, so I ordered the chicken stew instead. The humans were sharing this delicously looking basket of cheesy fries, but I wasn't allowed to have any of that.

Ordering food

And when my food arrived, I was allowed to eat at the table! This is technically the second time I got to do so (the first being at that place with the logo of two dogs peeing into the middle) but it's so much cooler because the other time, I was like eating scraps and stuff. This time, I'm eating my own dish at the head of the table!

Eating at the table

The stew was alright, but it had a whole bunch of stuff in it that I've never tried before and I was a bit scared to eat them. The biscuits however, were so yummy! Pops always teases Momma about ordering her dessert before her main course, but now I can understand why she does it! The biscuits were so much tastier than the stew, and I just gobbled them all up.

My new uncles

One thing that bugged me about the place though, was this mysterious door that was near our table. I'm not sure why, but I just didn't like it. Every time it opened or moved, I just had to bark loudly at it and try to scare it away. I'm not sure how a dog can scare a door away, but barking seems to work with everything else. I don't think it worked though, because it stayed put and continued bugging me all night.

But even with the annoying door, I still had such a good time. I had reservations under my name, sat at the table, ate at the table... I felt almost human. It's a strange feeling, but it's kinda nice. I hope I get to go out and eat like this more often. I can't wait to tell Knuckles and get him back for the time he made me jealous about the beach!

After that, we all went home, and while my humans were chatting to Uncle Qian and Uncle DX, the stupid Dog in the Window came back to try to crash the party. I kept trying to get the humans to open the door to let me chase him away, but they're so slow to react that by the time they let me out, the stupid coward will have gotten away. Argh! Hiew hiew hiew!!!

Anyway, I gotta go. My humans are taking me to the groomers... I'm getting a new haircut! More about that later.

Dinner with Knuckles!

Last Wednesday night, my humans took me to Grandmother's place for dinner, so I got to play with Knuckles again.

I got a little bit naughty tonight, because I was just too distracted by all the people and Knuckles that I wasn't interested at all in my dinner. Momma got a bit upset that I wasn't eating, and she and Aunt Jol tried to make me eat by hand-feeding me, sitting with me, and a whole lot of other ways. I was just too distracted to care though.

Someone had an idea to make use sibling rivalry to make me eat, by putting my food in the playpen together with Knuckles so that we'd both fight for the food just because we're brothers and brothers fight over everything. Knuckles had no issue with food, and quickly gobbled up my dinner as I stood by and watched.

Sharing is caring

So the plan didn't work that well, and they put Knuckles outside the playpen. He just kept pawing and pawing at the food though. Knuckles is one hungry dog!!! I don't know where all that food goes... I guess he works it off by being so crazy and jumping everywhere all the time.

Knuckles reaching for food

After dinner, Uncle Nicky, Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Geneveeve Geneva Genievef Gen-Gen played a card game called "Monopoly Deal" with Pops, Aunt Jol and Aunt Jol's boyfriend Andrew (same name as my Pops! I guess it's a popular name for humans, like how "Lucky" is a popular name for dogs). I don't know what kinda game it is, but it looked pretty boring. Knuckles and I just watched them, and tried to figure out what they were doing.

Watching the humans

They sat around a table and started putting the cards down. Sometimes they'd pick cards up, and sometimes they'd trade cards. It's SO BORING! No wonder my Pops was getting frustrated. I think he wasn't very good at it, because he kept groaning and everyone would laugh at him.

I have a better idea for how to play the game. You can just toss all the cards on the floor, and then Knuckles and I can chew them to shreds! That'd be awesome. I'll call it "Monopoly Chew!" It'll be just like Poker-Chew, Snap-Chew and Uno-Chew, except with different colored chew-cards. I should be a game designer. I think I have great ideas for fun games.

Cards?
It'd be so much more fun to chew these to shreds!

Walkie Walkie

My humans are asleep, so I can sneak in another post on the computer.

My humans took me for a nice walk tonight. Momma had gone jogging earlier, so Pops took me out to meet her in the Great Outside after dinner. Luckily for me, Momma didn't smell like Missy the Westie like she normally does after a jog. When we walked out the front gate, we bumped into our neighbor Dame, a very furry Maltese. I rarely get to meet Dame; usually we just see her barking from her high balcony, like that Rapunzel girl.

We met quite a few friends tonight, like Tess the long-legged wheezy dog, and Cocoa and Chewie, the chihuahua couple. As usual, Cocoa was quite flirty with me, and Chewie got pretty angry about that. I guess Cocoa must've heard about my secret identity as the Dog Knight, and girls dig that stuff. Luckily for Chewie, I'm still wary of cooties so I'm not gonna flirt back with Cocoa. Cooties are gross!

At the bottom of the hill, we got barked at by... yes of course, the Hill-Bottom Twins. Well, at least one of them. I'm not sure what happened to the other one. As much as it makes me jump every time they start barking out of nowhere, I really hope nothing bad has happened to the other one.

When we got home, the new puppy from the house next to us started barking again. Well, not really barking... more like whining. If I thought I was whiney, then this puppy is even worse. The thing is, nobody in my family has ever seen this puppy before, so we don't know what kinda puppy it is. We can hear it, but we can't see it. It's like a fart. So I'm going to nickname him "Small-Fart" until I figure out his real name.

One weird thing did happen during my walk. I found a nice spot to poop, and just when I'm all crouched and ready to go... nothing happened! It's so strange! I walked a couple of steps down and tried again, but it was as if the poop wasn't ready to leave home. I got quite embarrassed when my humans started looking at me funny and giggling, and just walked it off. I hope that doesn't happen again.

The Official Golden Shower Tree and more!

Last weekend, Momma and Pops wanted to take me to West Coast Park to run around. However, Pops took a wrong turn on a road somewhere, and we ended up at Kent Ridge Park instead. Still, it's not too bad, because it was really, really high up! We spent ages in the car just winding up and up this big hill, and when we got there the view was soooooo sweet!

I'm on top of the world!

There was also this big tank there. I've marked lots of cars before, but never a tank! I just went over to the tank treads, lifted my leg and peed. It was so awesome! I hope that one of these days, I get to pwn a giant transforming robot or something.

Me and the tank
Pops and me, with the soon-to-be pwned tank

Okay, maybe I wasn't supposed to pee on the tank, but I saw this tree that totally invited me to pee on it. The sign on it said it was a "Cassia Fistula" and that it was also known as a Golden Shower tree. Ah well, gotta do what the sign says, right?

But you know what the worst thing about going to a high place is? All those damned stairs! I mean, whoever designed this park was obsessed with stairs! It was like he hated ramps and stuff. Maybe he thinks he's the Stair-Master or something. But anyway, there were a lot of stairs, and after about two flights, Momma and I were pretty tired already.

Stairs 1

Stairs 2

I tell you, climbing the stairs made my humans and me really tired. So we decided to quit, and just stayed at the top of the hill. We found this tree-top walkway, and it was really cool. It was like a bunch of walkways near the tree tops, and you can just walk around. There were a lot of flying bugs though, so Momma ran away. Momma had a bunch of bad experiences with a lot of bugs flying into her face. It's okay though, cos I totally protected her from the bugs with my awesome cuteness.

So we got ready to go home, as the sun was so hot and I was baking under my fur. On the way back, we saw some human puppies celebrating someone's birthday! Birthday parties look like tons of fun, so I can't wait till next year when I can celebrate my birthday too. Momma has promised me a yummy birthday cake!

Meeting new friends!

I started this evening with a big shock. Normally, Pops would take me for an evening drive to pick Momma up from the station. Imagine my surprise when instead of leading me to the car, he put me back into the playpen! I was so confused, so I whined and whined, but Pops just left without me. I sat in my playpen and hiew-hiewed for a while, thinking about how much better life was when I was the cutest dog in the world.

Later in the evening, Momma and Pops came home and I realized that Pops had gone to the groomer cos his hair was much shorter, like mine! Then after dinner, they took me for a walk in the Great Outside, where I made some new friends! Unfortunately Pops' phone was out of batteries, so I didn't get any photos of my adventures.

The first dogs I bumped into were the Hill-Bottom Twins. Well, I didn't really bump into them because they're always stuck behind a big gate. The Hill-Bottom Twins are these two big dogs that keep barking and barking whenever anyone, human or dog, walks past their yard at the bottom of the hill. They're pretty scary, and if it wasn't for the big gate keeping them in, I'd go the long way around them because I don't think even Pops can fight them off. Luckily there's that gate, so I feel safe enough to leave my mark on the trees outside.

Just past the scary house, we saw a big leggy dog named Tess. Tess has these really really long legs, like the humans in Momma's girly magazines. But I remember the most is her weezing. It's quite creepy the way she breathes loudly, as if she's either going to attack me or have a heart attack. But her human said it's normal for her, so I dared to sniff her butt.

Around the corner, we bumped into another older lady dog, except this one was around my size. Her name is Cotton, and she's so white and fluffy. I think she can fly, because I've seen big fluffy white things like her floating in the sky before. She didn't fly tonight though... probably because she gets her flying powers from the sun's energy.

After Cotton left, I bumped into yet another two dogs. This time, it was a couple named Cocoa and Chewy. They were these two tiny yapping chihuahuas, and Ive never seen dogs so small before. They're like the size of GG my toy Giraffe! I think I must've really gotten Chewy jealous or something, because he wasn't too happy about me chatting to his girlfriend.  Little guy kept growling at me the whole time. It's kinda funny, really. Little yap dogs hahahaha!
Then I finally got home. I almost made it around the block, but I needed Momma to carry me around the last corner. I hope I don't catch cooties from meeting so many girl dogs.

Crap!!! Momma just found the Golden Offerings I left next to her bed. I have to go hide!

Back to school!

Today was a really exciting day because I got to go back to school! I've been sick for the past few weeks so I wasn't able to go to school, but I'm finally well enough and today I went into class... except the only other student-dog I recognized was my brother Knuckles. I recognized Bailey the big Alpha Collie, but he's the teacher's dog. All the other dogs are new, or at least new to me. I was so distracted by the new dogs and smells that I wasn't even interested in the sausage snacks! Which really annoyed Momma a lot, because it meant I wasn't paying attention in class nor trying to learn the new tricks. Even Aunt Jol was having better luck teaching Knuckles, and usually he's the easily-distracted one.

Today, we did some crate training, as we were taught how to be comfortable inside our crates. This wasn't really anything new to me, because I already love my crate. It's my own personal space, and it's a place for me to hide inside. However, some of the other dogs weren't so comfortable with the crates, and went nuts. I hope they get used to their crates soon.

After class, our teacher Lucas showed us some videos of him and Bailey at a competition, catching flying discs and running obstacle courses. Apparently Knuckles and I will learn how to do that stuff in the future, and I'm kinda looking forward to that because it looks pretty fun.

Then it was grooming time. Momma passed me over to Melvin the Groomer, and I did what I always do when I'm on the grooming table - I trembled uncontrollably. Hey, you would tremble too if there was some guy snipping big sharp scissors at your face. He started shaving off my fur, and then stuck these cotton buds into my ear too. It was very, very uncomfortable and scary.

Still, at the end of it I felt lighter and less fuzzy. It's nice not to have your fur in your own eyes all the time, and I think I look even cuter than before, if that's possible. Seriously, I look pretty damned handsome right about now. Humans will be totally helpless against my charms. I mean check me out. I'm a total stud.

On the way home, Momma and I were so exhausted after such a long day that we fell asleep in the car all the way home. It's so comfortable to nap while being snuggled by Momma. I wish I could fall asleep in her arms more often.

Saturday night outing

I had a special treat tonight! Momma and Pops decided to go out for a quick dinner, and took me with them. So not only did I get a bonus car ride, but I also got to hang out with them at the restaurant. I couldn't really read the name of the place, but it had this big yellow sign that looked like the streams of two dogs peeing into the middle of a red box, and this creepy looking clown.

While Momma and Pops were eating their dinner, I got to sit at their table. Now this might not sound like a big deal to you, but it's the first time I get to sit at the table with my humans. At the the table, not just under it! I was so happy, even if Momma didn't feed me some of her chicken.

While we were there, a whole bunch of other humans walked past and kept wanting to stroke my fur, especially the smaller ones. One youngling in particular was so fascinated by me and kept wanting to pat me. I guess I can understand, as I am incredibly cute after all. All except for one human. The moment she saw me, she shrieked and jerked away as if I was going to eat her face of something. She was probably attacked by a Doberman before... those dogs give regular dogs a bad name.

While going for a short walk, everything was fine till I got scared by a huge hunk of metal speeding down the road. I thought it almost hit me so I got Momma to carry me instead. We also bumped into a female dog named Scout. Scout kept trying to tackle me and paw me, but I didn't want anything to do with her. The Beagle from down the road told me all about girl dogs and cooties!

Then it started raining and my humans took me home. The outing was so exciting and I had such a good time. I hope I can go out again soon.

Meet Knuckles

That's my brother Knuckles on the left.

Last weekend I went to visit my Aunt Jol and my brother Knuckles. I guess now is as good a time as any to tell you guys about my brother Knuckles. When my Momma adopted me, Aunt Jol went with her and also fell in love with the little puppies. There were only two of us left for adoption, so the two sisters decided to adopt one each. The story I'm always told is that Knuckles and I both instinctively crawled towards our respective parents, and that's how they chose us.

This photo was taken on the day we were adopted.

More after the jump!
