Argh! Last weekend, Momma and Pops took me to the scary place where Uncle Melvin the Groomer lives. They put Knuckles and I there, and then disappeared. Later on, Tails came too! The three of us were helpless against Uncle Melvin, and he cut our fur!!!
Now I feel kinda light and breezy. It's a nice feeling actually, but so not worth the trauma from standing on the operating table and having my dignity shaved off me.
Anyway, here are some pics:
This is me, after my furcut
This is Knuckles and Aunt Jol.
He got a furcut, she didn't.
Actually, if you notice in that pic, Knuckles isn't smiling for once. That's because you can't smile if you don't have a mouth!
We don't have a pic of Tails yet, but here's Flatty after his grooming:
Actually, Flatty looks kinda the same
BTW, Flatty is still with us because his visa got extended. Yay! At least, that's what Pops says. Pops also said that we have to hide him if the Immigration People come and visit, but he says that one thing has nothing to do with the other.
Yesterday, Momma woke up with a tummy ache and didn't feel very well, so Pops and I took her to see the Human Vet. While Momma went inside, Pops and I stayed outside because I wasn't allowed inside.
Waiting for Momma outside the human vet
This got me thinking... when we go to my vet, both humans and pets are welcomed inside. But now that we're at a human vet, how come I'm not allowed to go in? This isn't right at all, isn't it? Maybe there should be a new rule where humans aren't allowed in a pet vet! Fair is fair!!!
Later on, we went to pick up some cupcakes for Christmas, and then it was time to go home for a quick nap. Well, I napped anyway... Momma had presents to wrap and stuff.
After that, it was off to see Melvin the Groomer. Since I'm going to attend some parties soon, Momma wanted me to look my absolute bestest. Melvin was so nice, and he had Christmas presents prepared for us and everything. Then he cut my fur, and wow I look good! I'm looking really good. Not only that, but I smell great too! If I could put my smell into the Internet, I would just so you guys can smell how good I smell.
Look how clean I look!
Christmas is tomorrow! I'm soooo excited! I've already been to one pre-Christmas party, where I got my first present ever!
My first Christmas present! Snacky-poos!
I got to meet my cousins Baby, Alfie and Kenji here too, and I played with Kenji most of the night. Alfie was really clever, and showed off some cool tricks to get some snacks.
Anyway, I'm going to rest up. We're going over to Grandmother's place tonight, where I'll get to see Knuckles and Tails, and hopefully get more presents! It'll be so much fun!
The Beagle from down the road thought it would be a good idea to shave my fur, because he heard that "Mixed Marital Artists" like to shave their heads before they fight, so that their spouses won't be able to pull their hair while fighting over paints. And if I'm going to challenge those Dobermans in combat, then I'll need every bit of help I can get.
So Momma and Pops took me to Melvin the Groomer, and on top of the regular stuff like trimming my claws and plucking the fur from my ears (always so painful!) he went on and totally shaved off my fur with a scary whirring thing.
Here's what I looked like before grooming...
This is me, getting my nails clipped.
Okay, I've always had my nice fuzzy coat of fur ever since I was born. I like it when my humans brush my fur. This is a totally different experience. With my fur shaved off... it's like I can feel the wind on my skin! It's so weird!
I'm sure you guys want to see what I look like now, so here's a pic of my new look.
My new look!
Okay I'm just kidding! That's not me at all! That's just the dog that got shaved after me. He's kinda funny-looking and googley-eyed, but Momma says that's what happens when you pull faces and then the wind changes. If only Chinese Crested dogs had Mommas as wise as mine. Anyway, this is what I really look like after my haircut:
Look how sleek I look now!
Pretty handsome, huh? It's just so strange. I feel really light and agile now, and when the wind blows it's a totally different feeling. But I like it lots. And I'll probably be able to kick butt now. Evil Cats beware!
My humans think I look like this actor named Liev Schrieber. I'm not sure if I see the resemblence myself, but here's a comparison photo.
What do you think? Do I look like the guy who plays Sabretooth?
Today was a really exciting day because I got to go back to school! I've been sick for the past few weeks so I wasn't able to go to school, but I'm finally well enough and today I went into class... except the only other student-dog I recognized was my brother Knuckles. I recognized Bailey the big Alpha Collie, but he's the teacher's dog. All the other dogs are new, or at least new to me. I was so distracted by the new dogs and smells that I wasn't even interested in the sausage snacks! Which really annoyed Momma a lot, because it meant I wasn't paying attention in class nor trying to learn the new tricks. Even Aunt Jol was having better luck teaching Knuckles, and usually he's the easily-distracted one.
Today, we did some crate training, as we were taught how to be comfortable inside our crates. This wasn't really anything new to me, because I already love my crate. It's my own personal space, and it's a place for me to hide inside. However, some of the other dogs weren't so comfortable with the crates, and went nuts. I hope they get used to their crates soon.
After class, our teacher Lucas showed us some videos of him and Bailey at a competition, catching flying discs and running obstacle courses. Apparently Knuckles and I will learn how to do that stuff in the future, and I'm kinda looking forward to that because it looks pretty fun.
Then it was grooming time. Momma passed me over to Melvin the Groomer, and I did what I always do when I'm on the grooming table - I trembled uncontrollably. Hey, you would tremble too if there was some guy snipping big sharp scissors at your face. He started shaving off my fur, and then stuck these cotton buds into my ear too. It was very, very uncomfortable and scary.
Still, at the end of it I felt lighter and less fuzzy. It's nice not to have your fur in your own eyes all the time, and I think I look even cuter than before, if that's possible. Seriously, I look pretty damned handsome right about now. Humans will be totally helpless against my charms. I mean check me out. I'm a total stud.
On the way home, Momma and I were so exhausted after such a long day that we fell asleep in the car all the way home. It's so comfortable to nap while being snuggled by Momma. I wish I could fall asleep in her arms more often.
I'm a cute and cuddly little Silky/Maltese puppy dog, and I like smelly socks! I live with my humans, Drew and Jo, in sunny Singapore, and I love them very very much!
They named me after the videogame hedgehog because they said I make them feel the same joy they felt when they first played the game.
