My trip to town

Bright lights
Check out the bright lights of the city

So like I promised yesterday, here are a bunch of photos of my trip to town. Khyra mentioned that it was weird to see shorts in Christmas, but snow and cold weather are two things I've never seen before in Singapore. Not even during Christmas! It's always hot hot hot and hot over here, and a big furry dog like Khyra (a husky) will MELT here! Good thing there are those freezy cold air boxes all around!

So here we are in Orchard Road, Singapore's busiest shopping area. Aunt Mainey was working the closing shift at her book store, so my Momma and Pops decided to take me to town for a walk and surprise Aunt Mainey. The lights were so pretty! It was like, daytime, except at night. And in the city, the fruits in the trees can glow! That's so awesome. I wonder if I'll glow too if I eat them.

Speaking of trees, there was one mega-huge tree in front of a mall. It was like the size of a hundred St Bernards! That's really massive! And it was covered in sparkly fruits too, though these ones didn't glow.

I also learnt something about a guy called "Santa Paws" who visits all the good little puppies and brings them gifts during Christmas. I hope I get to meet him, because he sounds like a really cool guy. I did meet his friend Rudolph though, who is Santa's favorite reindeer (reindeers are animals that can fly and pull shopping carts). Pops told me before that Rudolph is a guy, but when I met Rudolph he was putting red stuff on his lips, just like what Momma does! Isn't that a girly thing?

I got to do lots of other cool stuff too, like watching a band perform music, and sniffing garbage cans in town. Even the garbage in the city smells more exciting than the bins near our home.

Oh, and it was so crowded in the city. You couldn't walk a few steps without bumping into some random human's ankles. I was afraid some of the bigger humans were going to step on me and squish my tail or something! Everyone was rushing around like they were really excited about something. The pretty lights, I guess.

And there were a lot of human puppies too! The human puppies all thought I was really cute, and all of them wanted to pet and hug me. Ah well, I guess I am pretty cute, you know? After that we finally met up with Aunt Mainey, who was pleasantly surprised to see me after a long day at work.

Aunt Mainey

Together with Aunt Mainey, we went to visit some of Momma's favorite shops. I wasn't allowed inside the malls because I'm too cute and I'd cause a human puppy stampede or something, so we could only look at the windows outside.

But what trip to the Great Outside would be complete without some Golden Offering pwnage? The first city-thing I got to pwn was a bush outside a bookstore (but not Aunt Mainey's bookstore). From there I got to pwn a big metal pole with bright lights, and lots of other bushes. I wasn't allowed to pwn any human puppies, bins, or shop windows, unfortunately.

One more before I head home!

So that's my big exciting outing! I'm going to find out more about this whole Christmas thing, and I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Humans hate fur

I think I know why Momma was so eager to shave my fur... she hates fur!

Momma hates fur so much that I've seen her do really painful things like plucking hairs out from places, or shaving her body... She even goes and shoots the hair off with lasers! I've seen Pops' movies and videogames, and I know what lasers are. They're pretty and brightly colored, but they're also painful and scary looking! They hurt people! I can't believe Momma would hate fur so much that she'd "Pew Pew!" herself, when really I'd just run into the corner and "hiew hiew" instead.

Is it really important to have silky and smooth skin? Even Pops shaves, but he does the hair on his face. All humans feel that way about fur (well, except for the Robson Twins, but that's because they used to be St. Bernards) But I'm a dog! I'm not supposed to be silky and smooth. I'm supposed to have silky soft fur, and that's something entirely different.

I've overheard Momma and Aunt Jol talking about how much they hate the idea of wearing fur and how they will never wear fur because it's nasty... but that's a human thing, right? Momma even likes this human girl from one of her favorite TV shows who was in some ad to stop people from growing fur.

Dogs are allowed to keep fur, right? Or should I feel ashamed that I grow fur? Is it wrong to have fur? I'm not hurting anybody by growing my fur, right? It's not my fault I'm born furry! I'm so confused!

What if someday they decide to shave my face and legs too, and I end up looking like a giant rat-pig? How am I supposed to fight the forces of Evil when I look like a giant rat-pig? Although the Beagle from down the road told me once about a naked mole rat fighting evil... What is a naked mole rat, anyway? It sounds kinda gross! Like a little rubbery squeaky thing or something... Maybe it's related to chihuahuas?

Uncle Eff

I finally got to meet Uncle Eff last night! Uncle Eff is my Pops' brother... so he's like my Pops' version of Knuckles. Uncle Eff normally lives in Melbourne, which is a city far far away, but last night he came over to visit.

Uncle Eff's hair is really weird, and his dress sense is a bit funny, even for a human. I guess if Uncle Pete and Uncle Dave (the Twins) used to be St Bernards, then Uncle Eff probably used to be a poodle or a schnauzer.

I'm looking forward to playing more with Uncle Eff. Pops says he's a bit crazy, so I wonder if he's anything like Knuckles.

If you want to check out Uncle Eff's weirdness, check out his blog!

The Twins visit

Today, my humans and I went to the airport to pick up Pops' friends who are staying with us for a few days. Humans don't normally look alike, but these two sure did... and they were big! Pops told me that the Twins used to be St. Bernards, but they managed to change into humans. The Beagle from down the road told me that I could change into a human too, and all I have to do is "power-level up to level 80". We're not sure what level 80 means, but that's what he heard his humans say before. Judging from the Twins, it's probably got something to do with weight. I'm only 4 kg though, so I've got a long way to go before I can level up too.

I dunno... I'm not sure if I want to be human. It doesn't sound like all it's cracked out to be. I mean, you have to go to work, you have to wear funny clothes when you go out, and it seems like you have to go into that Bathroom Torture Chamber on a daily basis. I think I'd rather stay as a dog, so I can sleep all day and just receive a whole bunch of affection.
